🚨 BREAKING: FBI FOILS ALLEGED MALL OF AMERICA TERROR PLOT
Federal authorities say they have arrested an 18-year-old Minnesota man accused of planning an ISIS-inspired mass-casualty attack at the Mall of America.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud allegedly discussed attacking the mall and killing between 30 and 60 people. Investigators say he had identified October 24 as the intended date and allegedly sought weapons and ammunition for the planned attack.
The FBI says Mohamud was arrested on October 6 after purchasing an AK-47-style rifle, four 30-round magazines and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition from an undercover FBI employee posing as an ISIS member. The weapon had been rendered inert before the transaction.
Federal prosecutors also allege that Mohamud had expressed support for ISIS and discussed carrying out an attack in Minnesota after saying he could not travel overseas to join a terrorist organization. The investigation reportedly began in December 2024 and involved the FBI, Joint Terrorism Task Force and Bloomington Police Department.
Authorities say the alleged plot was disrupted before an attack could take place.
The investigation remains ongoing.
