Travis Kelce shared an announcement on social media about his new hosting project following the news about girlfriend Taylor Swift’s canceled shows in Europe.
On Thursday, Kelce, along with Amazon Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, revealed the release date for a new game show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, via Instagram.
“Sharpen your pencils. Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, hosted by Travis Kelce, arrives October 16,” the caption reads
In the comments, fans of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared their excitement.
“We will be watching!!! Can’t wait!” someone commented underneath the photo of Travis, who appeared to be on the show’s set.
“Yay congrats trav!” a second added, while a third said, “Literally can’t wait anymore!!!!” A fourth chimed in, “Rock on dude!!!!!!!!!!!”
Others, meanwhile, are hoping for an appearance by Swift.
“Oh taylor better be on at some point,” another fan wrote. One user asked, “Is tay tay there trav?”
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?,” Kelce, 34, said in April, according to Amazon.
“The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen will definitely be entertaining,” he continued. “I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
The Instagram post came a day after Swift’s three Eras Tour shows in Vienna were canceled.
The pop star was scheduled to play at Ernst Happel Stadium on August 8, 9 and 10. Authorities arrested two suspects—aged 19 and 17—who were allegedly plotting a terror attack in the Austrian capital city, possibly including the stadium.
The 19-year-old pledged his allegiance online to the current leader of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) just weeks ago, Austrian authorities said.
He wanted to carry out an attack in the area outside the stadium, killing as many people as possible using the knives or even using the explosive devices he had made,” Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, head of the Directorate of State Security and Intelligence, said about the teen.
In 2019, Swift said she carries “QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, which is for gunshot or stab wounds,” after revealing that her “biggest fear” is a terror attack at one of her concerts, according to Elle magazine.
Swift is scheduled to continue her Eras Tour in London next week. London police said Thursday that those shows should not be affected by the situation in Austria.
Swift and Kelce have not yet commented on the situation.
The couple first sparked romance rumors in July last year after Kelce attended Swift’s show in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Chiefs’ home stadium.
The “Cruel Summer” singer later appeared at several of his football games in September and October before the pair confirmed their relationship at a Saturday Night Live after-party on October 14.
