THE Kansas City Chiefs have announced Travis Kelce‘s retirement decision after weeks of speculation.

The 35-year-old has two years left on his contract, heading into the 2025 NFL season.

Kelce was considering hanging up his cleats after a Hall of Fame-bound career, a source prevously shared with The U.S. Sun.

That came after the devastating 40-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl earlier this month.

The loss ended the Chiefs bid for a historic three-peat, which would have been a first in NFL history.

But the Chiefs’ general manager, Brett Veach, has announced Kelce will be back for the 2025 campaign.

He said Kelce was “fired up” about entering the final year of his contract, and playing.

“We left it as, he’d be back and we’re excited to get him back and get him going,” he added.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Veach made the declaration while at the NFL Combine.

The combine begins at the Indianapolis Colts’ Lucas Oil Stadium on Thursday.

It is understood Kelce had been in talks with the team, family and friends over his future for weeks.

He was close to calling time on his legendary 12 year-long NFL career.

But the tight end has clearly made the decision to come back, and the Chiefs are now aware of that.

That means another run at a a fourth Super Bowl ring for him.

That would require a new contract, but talks would have to wait until the new season.

During the 2024-25 campaign, he was not up to his usual high standards in terms of stats.

He had 823 yards and just three receiving touchdowns during the regular year.

Kelce had more of an impact in the playoffs, which helped Andy Reid‘s side make it to the Super Bowl.

But he had another poor display at the Caesars Superdome against the Eagles.

NFL fans even claimed it was his – and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, worst games of their careers – so far.

Fans reacted with shock at the retirement news, and expected Kelce to be back to his best in the 2025 season.

“Revenge tour begins,” one person predicted on X.

“End with a bang!” another user added.

“One last dance,” a third wrote.

🚨 U.S.–CANADA WATER TENSIONS? OTTAWA SIGNALS SOVEREIGNTY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE 💧🇨🇦🇺🇸 Amid ongoing trade and resource discussions, speculation surfaced about U.S. interest in expanded access to Canadian water resources. Canadian officials responded clearly: water sovereignty is not on the table. Ottawa emphasized that freshwater management is tied to national security, environmental policy, and long-term climate planning — and would not be subject to external control. While no formal proposal for “control” has been confirmed, the exchange highlights how strategic resources are becoming more sensitive in cross-border negotiations. For Canada, the message was firm: core natural assets remain a domestic decision. Full story 👇
