Taylor Swift admits she hit the bottle during lockdowns.

The Welcome to New York singer opened up about both her songwriting process and her lockdown drinking habits during a reflective moment at Saturday’s concert in Melbourne, Australia.

Describing how she came to write her Grammy-winning 2020 album Folklore, Taylor , 34,painted a graphic picture of her own self-concept at the time.

“So I was imagining that, instead of being a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair drinking my weight in white wine, I was a ghostly Victorian lady wandering through the woods with a candle in a candlestick holder,” Taylor told the 96,000-strong audience at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, as she strummed an acoustic guitar.

“And I wrote only on parchment with a feathered quill. And that was in my mind, what I thought I looked like while writing Folklore.”
