Taylor Swift Christmas Ornament Takes Internet by Storm—’Best Idea Ever’
Taylor Swift fan has gone viral online after she showed off a homemade Christmas ornament, with many praising the idea.
The 35-year-old pop star closed out her history-making Eras Tour in Vancouver concluding her two-year run around the world. During this time, over 10 million people attended the tour, which included 149 shows across five continents.
Digital creator Melany Afara took to her Instagram account to post a bauble she made using friendship bracelets and the wristband that she had received when she attended the record-breaking Eras Tour.
When the merch line was wayyyy tooo long … you create your own merch ✨😆 The perfect swiftie keepsake ornament featuring friendship bracelets and ribbon from The Eras tour! 🪩♥️ send this to your Swiftie loving besties,” Afara captioned her video. It has been viewed more than 6.6 million times
In the video, Afara put friendship bracelets inside a clear bauble and then disassembled her LED wristband from the tour so she could use it to hang the ornament on her Christmas tree. People shared their love for their idea in the comments section of the video, with many saying they were going to follow suit.
“This is the best idea ever I’m going to do this,” one person wrote, while another added: “Can’t wait to make one.”
Others shared their ideas, with one person commenting: “Anyone who took home confetti can add that.”
My daughter & I did this exact thing! One in our shadow box & one for an ornament. We also did one with the confetti in it & one with all of our leftover beads we didn’t use. Basically everything we brought back has been turned into a keepsake,” said another Instagram user.
A different person added: “Did this with my kiddo too! Wrote the date & location of the concert too.”
Afara isn’t the first Swiftie to be inspired by the singer for the festive season, as a family that went viral in 2023 for its Swift-themed Christmas house has returned to the theme this year, this time including references to the singer’s latest album.
Amy and Brian Scott found internet fame last year after they decorated their home in Naperville, Illinois, by highlighting four of the singer’s eras: Red, Speak Now, 1989 and Evermore. Swift’s “eras” refer not only to her album titles but also to the world and atmosphere she creates for each release.
In the Folklore section, a moss-covered cottage replicates a set piece from Swift’s Eras Tour. Inside is a chandelier, a stool and a cardigan—a reference to the song “Cardigan.”
In the area dedicated to Tortured Poets, there is a cardboard cutout of Swift wearing a Vivienne Westwood white dress. There is also a vintage typewriter reminiscent of the one in Swift’s “Fortnight,” with its keys spelling out the message: “May you have a holiday season filled with joy, peace, and love.”
The Reputation section showcases a glass case containing a silhouette of Swift in the striking red-and-black catsuit she wore on tour alongside a red rotary phone. The phone is a nod to the song “Anti-Hero,” as a similar phone appears in the music video.
