Simone Biles Sends Heartfelt Message to Husband Jonathan Owens From Paris
U.S. Gymnast Simone Biles, along with her teammates Jade Carey, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera, are in Paris preparing for the 2024 Olympics.
Biles is looking to score gold in the women’s team event and become the first gymnast to win all-around gold in nonconsecutive Olympics. While the 27-year-old is focused on her epic comeback to the international competition, she took a moment to share a tribute to her husband, Jonathan Owens, on his 29th birthday.
Biles, who married Owens in 2023, posted several photos of the couple to celebrate the occasion on Instagram. “happy happy birthday to my husband, best friend, confidant and party goer ❤️,” she started.
thanks for being the calm to my storm! i love you with all my heart and I can’t wait to see what this year brings! let’s do it big baby💋😘✨ wish I was there to celebrate you, but I’ll see you soon!!! XO @jowens.”
Owens is currently in Lake Forest, Illinois for the Chicago Bears’ training camp. While daily attendance is mandatory for all players, the Bears gave the veteran safety special permission to join his wife in Paris and watch her compete in person at the Olympics.
“It’s super exciting just because I get a chance to see all the work that she puts in prior to, and you know what? Everything she goes through and dealing with the media and everything, and she still goes out there and does it,” Owens told People of Biles’ unparalleled work ethic.
“I love watching [it] from an athlete’s perspective because that’s how you’d be great in any sport, is just being consistent and doing the same thing consistently good every day,” he continued. “I love to watch it and I love to be out there and be a cheerleader.”
Owens went viral as a spectator during the U.S. Olympic Trials last month. “I know the routines,” he added. “I’m getting the score down. If I’m going to pay attention to it, I have to lock in. I’m going to go full in … So I had to make sure I did some research so I can talk gymnastics language.”
The women’s team final is on July 30. The women’s all-around final is on August 1.
