Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens may not be competing in the 2024 Olympics, but he is set to play a crucial role as a supporter for his wife, Simone Biles, during the summer games in Paris.
Owens has embraced his role as a “cheerleader” for Biles, expressing excitement about witnessing her strive for more historic achievements at the Olympics. The 28-year-old NFL veteran discussed this in a recent interview with People, highlighting the thrill of seeing the hard work Biles puts in ahead of the competition.
It’s super exciting because I get a chance to see all the work that she puts in prior to,” Owens remarked. “I love watching [it] from an athlete’s perspective because that’s how you’d be great in any sport, is just being consistent and doing the same thing consistently good every day.”
Owens has dedicated time to learning about gymnastics to better support Biles, immersing himself in the sport’s intricacies. “I know the routines. I’m getting the score down. If I’m going to pay attention to it, I have to lock in. I’m going to go full in… So I had to make sure I did some research so I can talk gymnastics language,” he shared.
Owens’ dedication to supporting Biles is evident, and his presence is sure to provide extra motivation for the Olympian as she competes in Paris. The couple’s mutual support showcases the strength of their partnership, with Owens proudly stepping into the role of Biles’ biggest fan and advocate.
