Simone Biles’ Husband Jonathan Owens Hopes to Match Victor Wembanyama With Newfound Skill
What’s common between Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens? Well, both are a sound believer of upskilling. However, Owens’ idea of upgradations might be different from his wife’s. While Biles is all about her gym and her Olympic dreams, her husband has a knack for coming up with some amusing hobbies to spend his time during the off-season! The Chicago Bears safety isn’t just focused on football; he’s giving his athletic life a whole new spin.
The 28-year-old shared a collection of Instagram stories, one of which comically showed him juggling until the balls fell away, captioning the post, “Update!!! 3 days in,” giving a glimpse of his progress. Next, Owens posted a clip from Bleacher Report featuring NBA rookie Victor Wembanyama demonstrating a variety of skills. In the video, the words “What can’t Wemby do?” were displayed. And, it seems, Owens took this up as a challenge as he reshared the clip, writing, “Couple months and I’m there😂”.
However, jokes aside, for Wembenyama, his superior juggling skills are more about improving coordination as per his team, the San Antonio Spurs. And boy, has it paid off! Not only did the 2023 NBS Draft No.1 pick lead all rookies in points (21.4), but he also led the charts in rebounds (10.6), and blocks per game (3.6). Moreover, he is the first player to have at least 1,500 points, 700 rebounds, 250 assists, 250 blocks and 100 3-pointers made in a season. Not just that, he is also the first French player to win the Rookie of the Year award since the 1952-1953 season (the season ROTY awards started being presented).
So naturally, after the video was shared online with a staggering 1.5 million views, fans were convinced that there is literally nothing the San Antonio Spurs star can’t do. And now, Owens is also convinced that with a few months of practice, he will reach where the 7’4” basketball player is at. However, with Simone Biles big moment coming up in just a few weeks time, how will Owens manage his newfound hobby while being present for the love of his life? Well, all we can say is there’s nothing the couple can’t do!
While Simone Biles gets ready for the Olympics in Paris, her husband Jonathan Owens is preparing for the NFL season. The duo focuses on helping each other’s careers despite their hectic schedules. Notably, Owens has also been given time off by the Chicago Bears during training camp so that he can support Biles at the Olympics, which the Olympic gymnast confirmed earlier this month.
The pair need this help because their hectic lives frequently keep them apart. “Anytime we can show up for one another in support, we just get super excited,” Biles had shared. Similarly, the former Green Bay Packers player also never shies away from appreciating Biles’ each and every single achievement. Recently, after the gymnast secured her place on the Olympic team for the third tea, Owens boasted on social media: “I’m so thankful to be apart of this journey with you, and i cant wait to be able to watch you out there in Paris. Cheers to going to your third Olympic Games!!!!!! Just sounds so surreal being able to say my wife is the best to EVER do it, how did i get so lucky 😌 I love you so much.
As for the football player’s own career prospects, after playing for the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers in the offseason, Owens inked a two-year deal with the Bears. His professional path has been remarkable, and having Biles by his side at key moments gives him a solid network of support. The couple has been together since 2020 and got married last year. They are currently building a house outside of Houston.
Owens will be able to watch Biles compete on the largest stage since the Bears training camp and the Olympics fall at the ideal time. The U.S. women’s gymnastics team’s qualifying round begins on July 28, kicking off the Olympic competition. Biles is expected to be the favorite in the all-around final on August 1. With Owens there, she will undoubtedly feel more motivated to pursue another gold medal
