Olivia Dunne has a message for Simone Biles and fans call for her to be in Los Angeles in 2028
Olivia Dunne watched history unfold as Simone Biles led Team USA to Olympic gold in Paris on Tuesday. The LSU gymnast and prominent TikTok star was in the audience, capturing the moment on social media. Dunne shared her excitement with a TikTok video from her seat, cheering on Biles and the team with the caption: “GO USA RAHHH.”
Dunne, who was part of LSU’s national championship-winning gymnastics team last year, expressed her admiration and support for Biles, the most decorated Olympic gymnast in U.S. history after this victory.
“We’re super excited. We’re honored to represent the US every time we get on a world stage but accomplishing that gold and that goal was just an amazing feeling,” Biles said.
“I think we all had something to prove from Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and tonight we did just that.
“It means the world. This was our goal going in, even though we didn’t share it with everybody because it’s just a personal thing that we were working on.
But I think for everybody it’s what we came here to do. And we’re super excited to walk away with that gold medal.”
Earlier in the day, Dunne posted an Instagram photo enjoying the Parisian sunshine, reflecting her joy at being part of such a significant event.
Biles as an inspiration
This moment seems to have had a profound impact on Dunne. Despite her earlier statements in July about not aspiring to compete in the Olympics, witnessing Biles’ performance may have inspired her to reconsider her stance, especially with the next Games taking place in Los Angeles in 2028, when Dunne will be 25.
“I don’t think I’m going to try for the Olympics or anything after, since I once competed for Team USA and I closed that chapter and went to LSU,” she told the New York Post.
For Biles, this Olympic gold marks a significant comeback after facing difficulties with the ‘twisties’ at the Tokyo Games. Her success in Paris not only adds to her impressive medal tally but also serves as a powerful inspiration for gymnasts like Dunne.
