Oilers’ Connor McDavid wows with spectacular summer wedding wth Lauren Kyle
Congratulations are in order for Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, who recently married interior designer Lauren Kyle.
The couple exchanged vows in a picturesque outdoor ceremony on Old Woman Island, located across from Lake Muskoka, Ontario. The wedding, which was captured in photos published by Vogue Australia, follows their engagement on the same island last summer, where they also own a cottage.
The wedding was a grand affair, featuring a European summer theme. Guests were encouraged to dress in “old money themed attire” with pink and purple pastel tones, matching the hydrangeas planted at the venue.
Oilers winger Evander Kane was among the attendees, adding to the star-studded nature of the event. The celebration spanned 10 days and included four events at different locations, requiring the construction of infrastructures on the island, which is only accessible by boat.
Lauren Kyle described the wedding as a dream come true, with vibrant outfits, lush gardens, a spritz bar, a tennis court, and a jazz band setting the perfect atmosphere for their special day. One of the most memorable moments for Kyle was McDavid’s vows.
Known for being reserved, McDavid surprised everyone with heartfelt and emotional vows, which made the ceremony even more special.
The wedding was also a showcase of high fashion. Lauren Kyle wore five vintage outfits throughout the events, including a Ralph Lauren runway dress from the Spring/Summer 2007 collection and a Chloe dress famously worn by supermodel Kate Moss in 1997.
For the ceremony, she opted for a custom Vivienne Westwood gown, while McDavid wore a custom tuxedo by Montreal-based menswear label Cloakroom. After the ceremony, the newlyweds took a “victory lap” around the island on a vintage wooden boat, relishing a quiet moment together amid the celebrations.
The wedding festivities continued with a lively afterparty featuring a performance by Canadian DJ group Loud Luxury. The joyous occasion came nearly two months after the Florida Panthers defeated the Oilers 2-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, denying Edmonton the championship.
Despite the loss, McDavid had an outstanding season, earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs’ most valuable player
Connor McDavid proposed to Lauren Kyle in Ontario last June following a historic NHL season where he scored 64 goals and racked up 153 points.
His remarkable performance earned him his third Hart Trophy as the NHL’s 2023 MVP. The couple’s wedding marks the beginning of a new chapter as they celebrate their love surrounded by family, friends, and unforgettable memories.
