Miley Cyrus shocked as she beat out Taylor Swift to earn the first Grammy Award of the night on Sunday.

The 31-year-old singer triumphed in the Best Pop Solo Performance category for her hit track Flowers which was announced by fellow music megastar Mariah Carey.

Miley not only was in disbelief that she had won but was also presented the award by Mariah as she said: ‘This MC is going to stand by this emcee, because this is just too iconic. Oh, my god, I just got stuck in the rain and traffic and thought I was going to miss this moment and I could have missed the award, that’s fine, but not to Mariah Carey!

‘I just saw you at the Hollywood Bowl and it was everything. I got sat in my lucky number 3 seat, so there is a story you want to tell that sums up this moment and I was not going to tell it, but now Mariah is here. ‘

Miley went on to tell a sweet story about a little boy capturing a butterfly and how that relates to her.

She concluded her speech: ‘So there was a little boy that all he wanted for his birthday was a butterfly and so his parents gave him a butterfly net, and he was so excited. He went out in the sun and started swinging and swinging, but with no luck he sat down on the ground, he finally let go and he surrendered and he was okay that he was not going to capture this beautiful.

‘And right when he did is when the butterfly came and landed right on the tip of his nose. And this song Flowers is my butterfly. Thank you.’

The second award of the evening was given to Karol G in the Best Música Urbana Album category for Mañana Será Bonito.

The 32-year-old Columbian hitmaker beat out Rauw Alejandro – Saturno and Tainy – Data.

During her acceptance speech she said: ‘Hi, everybody! My name is Karol G! And I am from Colombia! And this is my first time at Grammys, and my first time holding my own Grammy. I’m super happy. I’m super nervous.

‘I’m super excited to be in front of so many legends that I admire and respect. And this is such a beautiful thing. My album has given me the best memories in my own life, my whole life. The 2024 Grammy Awards will be honoring music’s brightest stars in a celebration held at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles on February 4.

Hosted by Trevor Noah, this year’s celebration will air live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and its streaming service Paramount+.

This year SZA tops the nominations with a total of nine nods, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song Of The Year. Taylor Swift follows close behind with six nominations, and will also be competing against SZA in the three aforementioned categories.

The majority of Swift’s nominations were for her acclaimed album Midnights and its single Anti-Hero, which earned some of the best reviews of her career.

That track is up for Record of the Year, a category that honors the artists who recorded the song and its producers and engineers, as well as for the Song of the Year category, which honors songwriters. SZA’s track Kill Bill has also been nominated in both categories.

Swift has already made history in the Album of the Year category, currently tied for three previous wins with music legends Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder.

However, she is now poised to become the first-ever person to win the category four times if Midnights ends up victorious this year.

Billie Eilish and Miley Cyrus are also both up for six awards. Eilish’s nominations include Song and Record of the Year for her hit single from the Barbie soundtrack, What Was I Made For?

Cyrus has the chance to win her first ever Grammy this year with her nominations.

Her track Flowers is up for Record and Song of the Year, while her album Endless Summer Vacation has been nominated for Album of the Year.

Olivia Rodrigo is another major name in competition for a trophy.

Olivia – who has already won three Grammys – has been nominated for six awards this year, including Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, and Song Of The Year.

Other major nominees include jazz crossover artist Jon Batiste, the trio Boygenius (made up of Phoebe Bridges, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker), Lana Del Rey, Janelle Monáe and Victoria Monét, who was nominated for Best New Artist and multiple awards for her album Jaguar II and its singles.

In addition to the big names celebrating career achievements, a host of celebrities are set to be presenting at the show.

Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, Lionel Richie, Mark Ronson, Maluma, Meryl Steep, Samara Joy, Taylor Tomlinson, and Oprah Winfrey have all been announced as presenters.

Audience members and viewers alike will also be treated to an array of incredible performances, with Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, Luke Combs, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Travis Scott, and U2 slated to perform.

Folk music icon Joni Mitchell will also be performing for the first time ever at the Grammy awards this year. She too is up for an award for Best Folk Album Category for Joni Mitchel AT Newport [Live].

🚨Trump PANICS after MASSIVE LOSS…IN TEXAS!!!⚡ Donald Trump is showing clear signs of panic as Texas begins to shift politically. In a stunning special election runoff for Texas State Senate District 9, a Democratic candidate flipped a seat that hadn’t gone blue since 1991—winning by 14 points in a district Trump had carried by 17. This represents a 31-point Democratic overperformance, despite Republicans outspending Democrats by $2.5 million. Trump had loudly endorsed the MAGA candidate before the election, calling her a “phenomenal” and “true MAGA warrior.” But after her crushing defeat, Trump suddenly claimed he didn’t know about the race and had “nothing to do with it,” contradicting his own public statements. The result highlights a broader trend: independents and Republicans are crossing over, while Democrats are gaining momentum by focusing on workers’ rights, affordability, and healthcare instead of culture wars. Additional Democratic wins in Texas House races have narrowed the GOP’s majority in Congress to a single vote. Taken together, these developments suggest Texas is becoming competitive—and a potential blue tsunami could spell serious trouble for Trump and MAGA Republicans in upcoming elections…👇

JUST NOW: 47 Republicans DEFECTI Trump’s 3rd Impeachment EXPLODES with 212 Votes -Historic Betrayal? . A major constitutional crisis is unfolding in Washington as 212 members of Congress, including 47 Republicans, have formally backed impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump. This marks the third impeachment push in six years, but unlike previous efforts, lawmakers say this one is driven by hard, verifiable evidence, not political interpretation. According to sources inside Congress, financial records from U.S. Treasury officials show timed money transfers involving foreign banks, followed by sudden pauses in federal investigations connected to White House associates. These findings were revealed during secure intelligence briefings in mid-January and supported by 847 pages of internal financial logs. The situation escalated when the Republican chair of the House Judiciary Committee, previously a strong Trump ally, reviewed the evidence and declared it “worse than Watergate,” accusing the administration of blocking justice under the guise of national security. Legal experts across party lines warn this could represent abuse of presidential power to protect personal financial interests, a core constitutional violation. With hearings set to begin and markets already reacting, lawmakers say this is not political theater, but a defining test of whether the Constitution can still restrain executive power. 👉 Read the full story 👇

🔥 BREAKING: TRUMP CALLS BARACK OBAMA “WEAK” LIVE ON TV — OBAMA’S CALM REPLY LEAVES TRUMP SPEECHLESS ⚡ What was meant to be a chest-thumping moment instantly backfired when Donald Trump labeled Barack Obama “weak” during a live broadcast—expecting applause, maybe laughter. For a brief second, there was noise. Then Obama responded. No anger. No theatrics. Just a pause—and a reply so measured it flipped the entire room. Obama didn’t defend himself with titles or achievements. He spoke about strength as discipline under pressure, about leadership as responsibility when no one’s cheering. Each sentence landed clean, reframing the insult without ever repeating it. The shift was immediate. Smiles vanished. The audience leaned in. Reporters exchanged glances as the contrast sharpened on screen: bravado versus composure, volume versus substance. One line—delivered quietly—hit hardest, drawing a straight line between words and outcomes without naming names. Silence followed. Real silence. Then applause—slow at first, then sustained. Cameras caught Trump blinking, jaw tight, momentarily out of answers. The attempt to dominate the moment had evaporated. Sources say Trump fumed off-camera as clips spread across social media at lightning speed. Side-by-side edits flooded timelines, replaying the insult next to the response that dismantled it. Commentators were quick to agree: this wasn’t a clapback—it was a lesson. Online reaction exploded, with viewers calling it “elegant destruction” and “a masterclass in restraint.” Obama didn’t raise his voice. He raised the standard. 👉 The clip is now trending worldwide—watch the live-TV moment where one calm reply turned an insult into a mic-drop. 🔥
