Klay Thompson Doesn’t Share Stephen Curry’s Sentiment, Vows to Go Behind Steve Kerr’s Back in Warriors Return
We are only a couple of days away from witnessing the NBA’s much-awaited emotional reunion! After representing the Warriors for 11 seasons, Klay Thompson is all set to play against them for the first time on Tuesday in the Bay Area. If not for the rest of the league, it’s a truly bittersweet moment for fans that will assemble in Chase Center. Reacting to the situation, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson had polar opposite perspectives. Notably, Klay threatened to rat out the Dubs!
Above all, he admitted that he would reveal the Dubs’ game plan, as much as he’s aware of, to his new teammates, saying, “Probably share my knowledge with teammates and coaches and try to do well. Obviously, a high-volume 3-point shooting team and switch its turn on defense. We will go on Tuesday and try to counteract those 2 aspects.”
The Warriors and Klay Thompson parted ways in the most unlikely fashion. In short, in a most brutal fashion. After failing to come to a contract agreement, Thompson walked out of the franchise in free agency, just like that.
While Klay would have certain insider information about the way GSW plays, this is a completely different team from what we’ve witnessed over the years. After the breakup, everyone had written off the side, anticipating another tough season for Stephen Curry & Co. To make up for Klay’s loss this offseason, the Warriors made three valuable additions to the roster, roping in Buddy Hield, De’Anthony Melton, and Kyle Anderson. While the names don’t sound as explosive as the superstar trades, it has done the trick for the Warriors so far. These additions have made them one of the deepest teams in the league.
To be precise, minutes into the second quarter, you can see the 12th player checking in for the team and sinking a couple of threes. Speaking of the depth, Steve Kerr said, “This is as deep of a team as I’ve ever coached, and we’ve got to lean into that… I’ve never played 12 before, but we’re going to do it… I was thinking, well, maybe I’ll just play 10 and we’ll have to tell two of these guys that they’re going to sit. But I just couldn’t justify that.”
Basically, it was Coach Kerr flaunting his options and also threatening the rest of the league about the Warriors 3.0. So, Klay cannot really rat out the Warriors, given their new look. Nevertheless, Tuesday couldn’t come soon enough.
