Edmonton Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl and his fiancee Celeste Desjardins were among the close friends and family attending Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle’s wedding. Draisaitl and Desjardins are really close to the McDavids. Draisaitl and Connor’s brother Sam McDavid were reportedly the Oilers captain’s best men.
Celeste Desjardins shared a series of pictures and clips from the weekend, including one clip of Leon Draisaitl looking sharp in a beige suit.
Leon was seen vibing to music during the wedding rehearsals. Celeste also shared a few more pictures from the weekend with Darnell Nurse’s partner, Mikayla Nurse, and other Oilers’ partners. They remained quite close throughout the weekend and Celeste shared some adorable snaps on her stories.
Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle’s wedding was a rather private affair that took place on July 27 in Ontario. However, Lauren did share a few moments of post-wedding celebrations with friends and partners of McDavid’s Oilers teammates on her Instagram stories. She even dubbed it the ‘best weekend of her life.’
While the official pictures from the event have not been publicly released, it is expected that fans will get a broader glimpse into the ‘Royal Wedding’ in the coming days
Leon Draisaitl took the opportunity to propose to the love of his life earlier in the same month as his on-ice partner was set to get married. Desjardins and Draisaitl made their engagement official on Instagram, sharing a carousel of pictures from the special moment.
One of the people who was most excited about the engagement news was Lauren Kyle. She took to Instagram and reposted Celeste’s post on her story.
My favourite people are getting married!!! Ahhhh”, Lauren wrote with a crying emoji in the caption.
Later, when Connor McDavid was asked if Leon Draisaitl had reached out to him on matters of the heart and sought any advice before going down on one knee, McDavid said:
“No, I haven’t seen him yet. Looking forward to seeing him. It’ll be nice for him to get home, spend some time with his family. Obviously a big step in his life – happy for him.” [H/T Oilers After Dark]
