The Edmonton Oilers came close to winning the Stanley Cup this past season. But ultimately fell short as they suffered a devastating 2-1 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The What Chaos! X account posted video footage from inside the Oilers’ locker room after the game, which captured the sheer heartbreak and disappointment on the players’ faces.
As the Panthers loudly celebrated their championship victory nearby, the Oilers were in the dressing room, just sitting there unable to face their teammates. Others stared blankly ahead, tears welling in their eyes.Fans on social media expressed empathy for the team’s anguish. Many commented that the clip was difficult to watch, with one fan writing,
“only one goal and it was game 7.. pain was extra.”
Another fan noted,
“They did their best. Sometimes we can try our hardest in life, but the results aren’t in our control. They should still be proud of their effort.”
A couple of fan reactions noted just how close the Edmonton Oilers came.

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was clearly disappointed after the loss but spoke positively about his team’s resilience and character throughout the season.
“Just the resilience of the group. We went through a lot of ups and downs and came that close,” Connor McDavid said to NHL.com. “I’m really proud, proud of the way we fought all year. We were behind the 8-ball almost immediately and fought an uphill climb for months and months and months and it [stinks].
