The Edmonton Oilers came close to winning the Stanley Cup this past season. But ultimately fell short as they suffered a devastating 2-1 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The What Chaos! X account posted video footage from inside the Oilers’ locker room after the game, which captured the sheer heartbreak and disappointment on the players’ faces.

As the Panthers loudly celebrated their championship victory nearby, the Oilers were in the dressing room, just sitting there unable to face their teammates. Others stared blankly ahead, tears welling in their eyes.Fans on social media expressed empathy for the team’s anguish. Many commented that the clip was difficult to watch, with one fan writing,

“only one goal and it was game 7.. pain was extra.”

Another fan noted,
“They did their best. Sometimes we can try our hardest in life, but the results aren’t in our control. They should still be proud of their effort.”

A couple of fan reactions noted just how close the Edmonton Oilers came.
“Oooof. So close!!! Sorry guys. Better luck in another 20ish years,” a user wrote, referring to the fact that the Oilers made their first Stanley Cup appearance in 18 years.
“So close yet so far away.” another fan wrote.

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was clearly disappointed after the loss but spoke positively about his team’s resilience and character throughout the season.

“Just the resilience of the group. We went through a lot of ups and downs and came that close,” Connor McDavid said to NHL.com. “I’m really proud, proud of the way we fought all year. We were behind the 8-ball almost immediately and fought an uphill climb for months and months and months and it [stinks].

🚨 U.S.–CANADA WATER TENSIONS? OTTAWA SIGNALS SOVEREIGNTY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE 💧🇨🇦🇺🇸 Amid ongoing trade and resource discussions, speculation surfaced about U.S. interest in expanded access to Canadian water resources. Canadian officials responded clearly: water sovereignty is not on the table. Ottawa emphasized that freshwater management is tied to national security, environmental policy, and long-term climate planning — and would not be subject to external control. While no formal proposal for “control” has been confirmed, the exchange highlights how strategic resources are becoming more sensitive in cross-border negotiations.
