Connor McDavid Sends Message to Oilers’ Fans
Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid has seen some darkness. From the horrendous injury he suffered in his rookie season to the countless losses that have piled up over his nine year career.
This past season looked like it was going to be another one of those moments. And for the first 13 games of the season, it was. But then the Oilers made a coaching change. Then the team started playing better
It all culminated in the team making it to the Stanley Cup Final, after being down 3-0 in the final series.
It would have been a storybook ending to win the Stanley Cup in that fashion.
But it didn’t pan out that way. Now the organization turns the page to begin a new chapter.
Yesterday, McDavid took to Instagram to share a message with the Oilers’ faithful, “A lot of highs and lows this season. Truly a learning experience. Thank you Oil Country for sticking with us to the end. We have the best fans in the league. Keep believing and I can’t wait to get back to work next season.”
The captain did just about everything he could to bring the Cup to Edmonton. He put up a stellar playoff with 42 points in 25 games. McDavid beat Wayne Gretzky’s record for assists in a single playoff run with 34.
He was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP, despite falling short of the ultimate prize.
Look for McDavid to come back next season in a big way. The dawn is just on the horizon.
