Breaking News:NHL star Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle marry in ‘timeless’ Muskoka ceremony: ‘We got to really relish in the moment’

Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle are officially married. The Edmonton Oilers captain and interior designer tied the knot on July 27th on Old Woman Island in Muskoka as part of a multi-day wedding event that featured five high-fashion bridal looks.

“Our favourite place in the world is our cottage in Muskoka,” Kyle told Vogue Australia, “being on the water is so peaceful and calming.”

The wedding celebrations included a formal rehearsal dinner on a converted steamship. The couple asked their guests to dress in “old money themed attire” for the occasion that featured “vintage trinkets” and wedding photos of the couple’s grandparents.

For another event, the pair asked guests to dress in pastel hues for an outdoor party and cocktails on the tennis court.

“The European summer dream really came to life with the colourful outfits, gardens, spritz bar, tennis court and Jazz band leading us into the most beautiful night,” Kyle said.

On the day of their nuptials, the 28-year-old wore a strapless custom Vivienne Westwood Couture gown to exchange vows with the 27-year-old Richmond Hill, Ont.- born athlete on a floating dock. Tiffany & Co. outfitted Kyle with jewellery for her wedding festivities, including the elegant peal and diamond drop earrings and classic 18 carat diamond tennis bracelet for the ceremony.

“I knew I wanted something that felt timeless and elegant, but had a little bit of ‘modern’ and a touch of sex appeal,” Kyle said.

The newlywed said that despite having her hand in every detail, there was one “unexpected element” of the wedding: McDavid’s vows.

He is usually more reserved and quiet about his emotions but his vows were so emotional and heartfelt—it was really special to share that in front of all of our friends and family,” she said.

Following the ceremony, the couple stole away for a private moment before dancing the night away with their family and friends.

“Connor and I took a victory lap around the island on a vintage wooden boat; it was so nice to have a moment together; appreciate where we were, and all of the people who showed up to support us,” Kyle said. “We got to really relish in the moment.

McDavid proposed to Kyle in June 2023 at their cottage in Muskoka. According to Kyle, McDavid told her they were heading to a charity event, before surprising her with “a trail of flowers leading us to a beautiful set-up on the deck.” The star athlete played guitar and serenaded Kyle with their favourite song, “Only Love” by Ben Howard before proposing.

Kyle shared photos from the proposal to Instagram, calling the day he popped the question “the best day” of her life.

“I cannot put into words how happy I am to be spending the rest of our lives together. Almost eight years of growth, happiness and so much love and I can’t believe we have so much more to look forward to,” she wrote. “I knew you were my person from the day we met and I can’t wait for the beautiful life we are going to create together.”
