Stephen Curry, Tracee Ellis Ross, Lin-Manuel Miranda And Loni Love Want You To Vote

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are striving to reach voters with fewer than 70 days left until the 2024 election.

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, formally accepted the nominations for president and vice president at last week’s Democratic National Convention. The event featured speeches from Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, along with performances by Pink and John Legend, and appearances by a number of Republicans who are publicly backing Harris over Trump this November.

Trump received support from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was running as an independent candidate but suspended his campaign on Friday. Kennedy said he planned to remove his name from the ballot in 10 battleground states where his presence could hinder Trump’s chances.

“I’ve already started that process & urge voters not to vote for me,” Kennedy said during a press conference while noting he would remain on the ballot in less competitive states.

In a star-studded virtual volunteer rally on Tuesday, organizers with When We All Vote, a non-partisan organization by Michelle Obama, discussed their plan to get thousands of young voters registered to vote ahead of the election.

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross described herself as a “die-hard advocate for voting.”

“So my ask to you, or my reminder, is that we make sure that our communities are registered and ready to vote. And when I say community, I’m talking about your family, your neighbors, book club, group chat. I don’t know, people in the line when you’re getting coffee, and especially your girlfriends. You see what I did there?” the “Girlfriends” star added, before introducing Lin-Manuel Miranda, American songwriter and librettist.

Miranda then highlighted the need for Latino voters to show up to the polls: “Latino voters alone represent nearly 15% of all eligible voters in the US, and we have 10 weeks to make sure that 8.8 million eligible young Latino voters are ready to decide the key issues impacting us and our families. So this November, we’re voting for our communities, not just ourselves.”

Later on in the call, TV host Loni Love told listeners, “You are the best person to reach and register those all around you.”

“This is our American right, and you should be a part of this process,” she added.

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry closed out the call by encouraging people to “lock in.”

“I tweet it sometimes before games, but I like to say ‘it’s time to lock in,’ and we all know who we elect matters,” he said. “It’s not just at the top, it’s all the way down the ballot.”
